Traditional pig slaughter at Pivnice U Čápa

from March 6 to April 19

The aroma of freshly roasted white pudding sausage, crispy pork belly, tender boiled pork cuts, and a glass of perfectly chilled tank Pilsner. At Pivnice U Čápa, we have prepared traditional Czech pork feast for you.

How about starting with something small? A cold butcher’s platter with roasted pork belly, homemade smoked meat, and sausage, or head cheese with onion and vinegar. You can also choose warm boiled pork cuts served with grated horseradish and apple and wholegrain mustard, or traditional liver pâté with cranberries. You will definitely find your favorite.

From our soups, we offer a rich chunky pork soup and the traditional Czech pork blood soup known as prdelačka (literally ass soup, hehe).

As for main courses, you can enjoy beloved Czech classics. Roasted white pudding sausage called jitrnice with sauerkraut and boiled potatoes with butter. Black pudding with cracklings, braised white cabbage, and mashed potatoes with onion. Roasted pork belly in dark beer served with dumplings and sautéed onion.

We also serve tasty pork goulash with pickled chili pepper, pork hearts in cream sauce with homemade bread dumplings, or a generous feast for two, where you will find a bit of everything.

And something sweet to finish: apple strudel made from puff pastry with raisins and homemade cinnamon ice cream. There is always a room in your belly for that!

Weekend Special

From Friday to Sunday, we also offer fried pork brains with pickles and tartar sauce, or scrambled eggs with pork brains and cracklings. If you have never tried this delicacy, now is the perfect time.

You can enjoy these traditional Czech pork slaughter specialties from March 6 to April 19. We look forward to welcoming you.
